WHAT IS THIS “CELEBRATE LIFE! COMMUNITY CHOIR” THING?
So, now you are really getting interested in our “ALL NEW“ FINCH COMMUNITY FESTIVAL, BUT you may still be wondering about the “CELEBRATE LIFE! COMMUNITY CHOIR” THING??
“DO I have to SING?”
“What if I have been officially diagnosed as ‘musically-challenged’?”
“How does a ‘Community Choir Musical’ actually work anyway?”
ALL excellent questions! So, let’s try explain what “CELEBRATE LIFE!” is:
FIRST of all, CELEBRATE LIFE! is called a “PULPIT MUSICAL”, meaning it is a musical drama led by the Director from the front of the congregation! (There is no designated choir.) EVERYONE is a part of the CHOIR AND EVERYONE is a part of the CONGREGATION! It is more of an INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE than a STAGED PERFORMANCE.
CELEBRATE LIFE! was originally written by a man named RAGAN COURTNEY and composed by BURYL RED:
“Ragan Courtney is a present day prophet whose writings come around once in a lifetime. His word masterpieces, like all masterpieces have the power to provoke, inspire, rejuvenate, heal and comfort us precisely where we live and breathe. They touch us at the very moment we poor souls find ourselves floundering in the dark, and they shine the truth of God’s truth and beauty into our hearts and minds…suddenly, it’s daybreak.”
“CELEBRATE LIFE!” quickly became a favorite of Youth Choirs when it came out in the early 1970’s. Since then, it was re-released in the early 1990’s and found a whole new audience! Celebrate Life! is a classic church musical designed to engage the whole congregation!!! It was one of the first “Christian musicals” to include upbeat, modern music. CELEBRATE LIFE! chronicles events of Jesus’ life through a combination of singing and drama and includes clapping, drums, guitars, arm movements and yes, even shouting! TO BE A PART OF THE MUSICAL — No experience necessary! It is COMPLETELY INTERACTIVE and PARTICIPATION is by CHOICE, so, EVERYONE can commit to being a part of the production with as much or as little effort as they want!
We will be led by our very own NORRIS NORWOOD, Director of Music, at Memorial United Methodist Church! There is NO COST involved to participate, BUT we need to know how many SONG BOOKS to have available for singing participants. SIGN UP HERE!
YOU DO NOT NEED to sing to PARTICIPATE AND you DO NOT need to have a GREAT VOICE to have a GREAT TIME! Just come and enjoy the experience, you may even find yourself becoming more involved than you anticipated! I assure you, that you will not be disappointed!
“REHEARSAL” will be FRIDAY NIGHT at 7:30 PM & SATURDAY at 11:00 AM
The COMMUNITY “PERFORMANCE” will be SATURDAY at 1:00 PM!

TRACY RADOSEVIC will be sharing her gifts FRIDAY NIGHT (6:30 PM) and SUNDAY MORNING (10:30 AM) as a part of FINCH COMMUNITY FESTIVAL!
TRACY will also host a casual COFFEE & CONVERSATION (9:30 AM) time on SUNDAY MORNING before the worship service.
We are excited and very honored to have Tracy to come to Thomasville and kick off our very FIRST FINCH COMMUNITY FESTIVAL!

FOLLOWING WORSHIP on SUNDAY, we will have a catered LUNCH!
COST WILL BE $10 per person (with a $30 FAMILY MAX) & KIDS 12 and under eat FREE!
