ASP 2020

OK, SO some of you have been asking about what is going to happen with ASP for this summer.  I have sort of dodged the question because to be honest we are not sure what the summer will look like at this point.  BUT Chris just got an email this afternoon that helped to clear up a few things.  He sent this to me

“Good Afternoon Everyone,

Even though we all thought that this might not be the year, I’m sad to say that after 25 years of participation in ASP, the unthinkable finally happened. Today, I received notice that ASP won’t be accepting volunteers this summer for its Youth Summer Program.  This means that our trip to Kentucky this summer won’t be happening like we hoped. Based on lots of understandable factors they’ve decided that they won’t be able to properly prepare the staffs, centers, homeowners, and communities while providing a safe experience this summer. Given the size of ASP and the varied communities they serve, planning for a Summer takes lots of time and since people are right now people are unable to follow the appropriate guidelines regarding distance and group sizes they won’t be accepting volunteers until August 2020 (in other words, volunteers for next summer – 2021).

While I am disappointed that we won’t be partnering with ASP this summer I’m not without hope. I’ve already started reaching out to a few other organizations to find another alternative to put our “faith into action” this year. Things are certainly fluid and uncertain so I’m just not clear what that will look like right now. I’ve been approached about several different alternatives and ministries and would like to find one that offers us a meaningful and safe experience. As things are nailed down I’ll be passing along more information.  Rest assured I’m working hard to make it happen and as soon as I know, you’ll know. Please continue fundraising! Whatever alternative we find will most certainly cost money for supplies, vans, room and board, t-shirts. If we have any additional funds we’ll keep the money for use on our ASP trip next summer. If you’ve got any questions, shoot me a text (336) 687-2679, or email me (chris@mcintyremfg.com), and I’ll do my best to answer your questions. Thanks again for your patience, understanding, and flexibility!!!

Thanks,

Chris”
