UPCOMING EVENTS

LOVE FEAST CANDLELIGHT ADVENT SERVICE

SUNDAY DECEMBER 22
7:00 PM
SANCTUARY

Our annual Love Feast service will be held December 22 at 7:00 PM.  This is a special Advent worship service in which we sing Christmas carols, listen to readings from the nativity passage, and partake of the tea and rolls included with an authentic Moravian Love Feast.  We will end with a special rendition of “Silent Night” as candlelight floods the sanctuary and the spirit of Christmas is sure to flood your heart! It is a beautiful and solemn moment during a very busy and often hectic season. All are invited. Bring a friend and join us for this special Advent tradition!

CHRISTMAS EVE COMMUNION

TUESDAY DECEMBER 24
5:30 – 7:30, COME-AND-GO FORMAT
SANCTUARY

We will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the blessing of the Communion elements. Holy Communion will then be offered for all to receive in a come-and-go format until 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve is a busy time, and this open evening for communion is intended to create a contemplative space set apart. So arrive when it works best for you, and stay as long as you like, whether to pray or just to be still in the Advent Light. Bring your family and invite a friend and make this a Christmas Eve tradition. We hope to see you and celebrate this beautiful sacrament on the Eve of Christ’s birth.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Star of Bethlehem…another successful presentation of the nativity story was viewed by 1710 people and 21 dogs in 599 cars last Saturday and Sunday evening. In addition, there were about 250 people each night that took part to make it happen. That is over 2200 people remembering the birth of Jesus in such a beautiful way. A big Thank You to all who participated in making this event possible. To those who prepared the parking lot, put up the sets, decorated and placed props, worked with costumes, and directed traffic; to the animal trainers, policemen, those who served food to the cast—and for any other services performed—thank you just isn’t sufficient, but you are sincerely appreciated. Memorial’s gift of the Star of Bethlehem to this community is truly a Christmas Blessing. Again, thank you on behalf of the Star Steering Committee.

STAR OF BETHLEHEM COSTUMES

Please note that if you were assigned a role in Star of Bethlehem, your costume needs to be washed and returned to the Church by Christmas. About 20 people did not take their costumes home with them.  The smoked filled costumes to be cleaned are in the hallway on the way to the Heritage Room (formerly Library) in the main building of the Church.  Racks for the cleaned costumes are located in the reception area in both the Church and the CEC. The costume committee thanks everyone for washing and returning the costumes in a timely manner.

COOPERATIVE COMMUNITY MINISTRY (CCM)

Thank you for continuing to keep CCM on your shopping list. Current needs for pantry and hygiene items are listed below. CCM also really needs plastic grocery bags.

  • toothbrushes

Contact Susan at the Church Office if you would like to purchase an ornament. Cash or check to MUMC (note “Ornament” on memo line). All proceeds from the sale of ornaments go to the church’s budget.
