Our Finch Preaching Mission preacher is Mike Slaughter, pastor emeritus and global church ambassador for Ginghamsburg Church, and author of Made for a Miracle and Revolutionary Kingdom.

Mike’s life-long passion to reach the lost and set the oppressed free has now made him a tireless and leading advocate for the children, women, and men of Darfur, Sudan, once named by the U.N. as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Mike’s call to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted challenges Jesus followers to wrestle with God and their God-destinies.

Help us to “Harvest Hope” for our neighbors in the greater Thomasville area and across the world who know the reality of food insecurity and malnutrition by supporting or participating in our Harvest Hope 5K event on Saturday October 19 from 9 to 11 am. Proceeds from the event will benefit  Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) and Empty Bowls. Since it’s October, it wouldn’t be complete without pumpkins, treats, photo-ops, live music, and lots of laughter! We encourage kids of all ages to wear Halloween/Fall Festival costumes. For more information and to register to participate or just be Proud in the Crowd, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Thomasville/HarvestHope5k. Keep an eye on the MUMC Facebook page for updates!

CHARGE CONFERENCE

THE ANNUAL CHARGE CONFERENCE will be held on October 28 at 7:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, Thomasville.

“PLANT GENEROUSLY” (2 Cor. 9:6-7)

Our Stewardship theme for 2020 is “Plant Generously.”  Make plans to join us for worship on Sunday November 3 as we make our financial commitments for 2020.  We hope everyone will join in the Celebration Lunch that will follow 11 am worship.  You may pick up your Commitment Card and make lunch reservations beginning Sunday October 20 before and after worship at the Stewardship table, or with the church office beginning this week.

6 The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
