Total Expenses as of 07/31/17 $509,032.17
Total Income as of 07/31/17 $430,160.22

Memorial United Methodist encourages the Biblical teaching of the tithe. If the ten percent is too far a reach, consider a percentage increase toward the goal. Your sacrificial gift is greatly appreciated and makes our mission possible to grow in faith, build relationships and serve all people.” “Faithfully they brought in the contributions, the tithes…” II Chronicles 31:12

DEAR MEMBERS OF MEMORIAL…
When we arrived in Thomasville four weeks ago we came as strangers, but now leave as friends. We may not yet know all your names, but your smiles, encouraging words, hospitality and numerous acts of kindness have enfolded us within this very special church family. We leave with a treasure store of memories that will always spring to mind when we think of you. Columba and Ronan have been like two ice cubes that have quickly melted into the enriching waters of the youth program. They leave with great friendships which, through the wonders of social media, will continue in the future. Cathy and I are so grateful to you for allowing us to stand on your shoulders and gain a broader perspective of God’s love for the world. So now we journey to DC and Florida for two weeks vacation before returning to Jersey on the 30th, but be assured that whatever adventures we may have in your Capital City or Orlando will not eclipse the privilege of sharing life with you in Thomasville for these very special four weeks. Every blessing, our deepest thanks and love.
The Morling Family.

Second UMW Bake Sale
September 9, 2017
8:00 AM – 12 Noon
Thomasville Farmers Market
We need all of our cooks to prepare those favorite baked items for the next UMW Bake Sale, September 9, which will again be held at the Downtown Farmers Market. The last bake sale, held on July 7, netted $637.00 which will be used for local and foreign missions. We can do that again with the help of everyone. Some of the items that sell well are pies, breads of all types, cookies and bars, cakes, muffins and breakfast breads, granola and spiced or sugared nuts. Ham and sausage biscuits usually sell quickly to the vendors at the market. You can bring your items to the church on Friday, September 8, from 10:00 AM – Noon and then to Sara Faulkner’s house (910 Robinhood Road) from Noon on. Helpers are needed the day of the sale between the hours of 7:30 – 10:45 AM and from 10:45 AM to Noon.
Please contact Sara with questions or suggestions.

UPDATE ON OUR FALL BIBLE STUDY
Many of you have been asking me about our study this fall. The short answer is that the book I want us to tackle was to be published by August 15 (yes, I do like to get them hot off the presses) but I have been notified it will now be the first of September.
The book is entitled Five Means of Grace: Experiencing Love the Wesleyan Way by Elaine Heath. It is a five week study and it will fit neatly into the fall schedule following the Finch Preaching Mission which comes early this year. (October 1-3) I am thinking we will start the second week in October and still be able to end before Thanksgiving. I am eager to get started and I know you are as well. I’ll keep you posted and I hope the publishing date in September comes to pass.
For more information, please contact Peggy Finch (336) 472-7718
