David and Erin Shew
Philippians 4:1-13
I could not have been more excited. I landed an amazing job at a great hospital when I graduated from college. I had been working there a little over one year when one of my best friends called me out of the blue to tell me about a job at a hospital about 45 minutes away from my house. I immediately told her that I was happy where I was and didn’t want to commute that far. Three weeks later, the hospital announced they were closing the facility where I was working and I would be laid off. David and I were dependent on my income and had recently purchased a new house. We were devastated. In the midst of the tears and stress, I remembered the phone call from my friend. The job was still available! It was in that moment that I realized God had made it so clear where He wanted me to be for the next several years. I was blessed more then I could imagine with wonderful lifetime friendships and patients that made an impact in my life. I am reminded by this scripture the importance of finding reasons to always rejoice in the Lord. He is blessing our lives even when we feel we are in the midst of misfortune.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the many blessings in my life. I appreciate the constant reminders you provide of your active presence in my day to day tasks. Thank you for your love and grace.
Thought for the Day: The blessing of the Holy Spirit in our hearts gives us a reason to rejoice and find happiness in each day regardless of circumstances.
