COSTS

Due to the nature of this trip, there are different options and costs associated with different people and activities.  Please see below for the cost of the trip.  Each part below is an addition to the BASIC TRIP:

BASIC TRIP (TRANSPORTATION, LODGING & MEALS ONLY (“NO SKI” OPTION): $50
(Some people may want to go on the trip, but not ski or tube.  This is the basic cost of the trip, without any extras: everyone going on the trip will pay this fee.)

LIFT TICKETS (for 2 days): +$75
(If you plan on Skiing or Snowboarding, this is the cost for the LIFT TICKETS.  Everyone who plans on skiing/Snowboarding will pay this fee.)

SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL (Includes LESSON & HELMET) (for 2 days): +$75
(If you are renting any kind of equipment, you will also receive a helmet and an option for a 60-minute lesson at the WinterPlace Ski School.  I will not be on the slopes monitoring who is wearing helmets, but I do expect people to take care of themselves and make the right decision to wear them when you need them.)

SKI BIB RENTAL: +$10

ALL-DAY TUBING PASS: +$40
(This can be added after we arrive at the slopes.)

“ADD-ON TUBING” (2-hour session): +$16
(This can be added after we arrive at the slopes.)

JUST TO BE CLEAR:
The cost to go skiing on this trip (if you do not have any of your own equipment) ends up being $200.
(Basic Trip ($50) + Lift Tickets ($75) + Ski/Snowboard Rental ($75) = $200)
Unfortunately, this is an increase over the past few years because the cost of this trip has slowly crept up.  We finally needed to increase our fees because we were spending too much on this one trip.  I am very sorry about this, but I feel like this is a fair price for a great and fun weekend!!!

*SCHOLARSHIPS
If the COST of the trip is the only thing that is preventing you from going, please let me know, I have full and partial scholarships available!

ALSO:  You will need a little money for fast food meals on the way there and on the return trip.

LODGING

WINTERPLACE MOUNTAIN HOUSE

One of the unique aspects of this trip is the fact that we will be sleeping in the WinterPlace “Mountain House” Lodge.  Basically, this is the Lodge at the bottom of the mountain where people come to eat, rest and socialize during their day of skiing.  At night the tables where people sit during the day are pushed aside, the carpeted floor is vacuumed, and the resort provides air mattresses for us to sleep on.

The reason that we use this form of lodging is because it is significantly cheaper than other options in the area and we are able to have immediate access to the slopes when they open for operation.

What this means for you is that you will be provided an air mattress for sleeping on the floor.  You may want to bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, warm pajamas (the mountain house is mainly heated by a central fireplace, so if you end up far away from the fire, you could get very cold!) or even you own air mattress (the air mattresses provided are sort of small).  Also, the sleeping quarters will be “co-ed”, this means boys and girls as well as Youth and Adults will be in the same room, so please dress appropriately!

There are facilities (genders are separated in these facilities) for changing clothes with sinks, toilets, & showers so please feel free to bring your own towels, toiletries, etc.

NEVER SKIED BEFORE?  NO PROBLEM!

We really want you to have a great experience on this trip!  So even if you have never been skiing before we will help you learn!

WINTERPLACE IS A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN!
WinterPlace Ski Resort is a great place to learn how to ski!  The slopes are wide enough to give you room to make some mistakes and still be safe.  Plus, you can go all the way to the top of the mountain and still find “Beginners Slopes” all the way down. So, there is no chance that you will get on the wrong lift and be stuck!

SKI SCHOOL
WinterPlace offers a “Ski School” which gives new skiers a 60-minute group lesson on the basics of safely getting down the mountain.

OUR SECRET WEAPON: OUR ADULTS
Unfortunately, sometimes even after attending “Ski School” some people still have questions.  This is where our adults will help you!  Most of our adults are very good skiers and they are willing to take you out on the slopes and give you an individual lesson to help you get better!  Just ask one of them and they will be glad to help!

FINALLY…
The last option is that even after you go through Ski School AND work with one of our awesome adults, you may figure out that Skiing is just not for you!  There is always the option to hang out in the lodge or go tubing for the rest of the day.  This is a great trip with lots to do.  We hope that you will give it a try!
