Ben Devoid & Peggy Finch invite the congregation to a weekly study on the Gospel of Matthew based on the Efird Bible Studies.  Study with us through daily readings and weekly group lessons. Sunday preaching also will be based on the Matthew study theme for each week.

Study Sessions are Wednesdays at 6:10 PM, following the Fellowship Dinner.

CONFIRMATION CLASS. Our confirmation class is underway. We believe Confirmation will truly be an exciting and fun time to learn and understand more about God and one another, and we hope to include a wide range of activities to make this process a fun and special experience in the life of each Confirmand. If you have any questions please contact Rodney Denton. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Anyone who has not yet been confirmed is invited to participate in Confirmation. Most are middle school-aged youth, at a point in their lives when they are able to make personal faith decisions for themselves. The class is not limited to middle school students; if you know a friend who may be interested but is not in middle school, please encourage them to talk to Rodney about joining this class. Likewise, there are middle schoolers who are not quite ready to make this commitment; we recognize the individual freedom of that decision as well. Finally, it does not matter if you have been baptized or not! You will find out why during our classes!

Share the blessing of Memorial United Methodist in March.

During the month of March, extend the invitation to one of our Sunday morning worship services. There are five Sundays in March — 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31.

Who would benefit from the fellowship we share, and a guiding and hopeful message?

Begin to seek the leading of the Holy Spirit. Take a few moments to jot down the name of a friend, relative, neighbor, or associate. Offer them in prayerful consideration.

Prayer Vigil for General Conference Meeting on A Way Forward.

The prayer vigil for the General Conference continues through the end of the Special Session. The purpose of this vigil is to be in prayer for the General Conference, all of the delegates, for unity of the church, and that we seek to fulfill the mission Christ has given to us. It is not a time for expressing ideologies but rather a time to come together as the body of Christ praying for God’s will to be done through the work of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is encouraged to attend each night. The delegates covet our prayers as they go to do this work on our behalf.

Empty Bowls 2019 Silent Auction Request For Donations

Items which are considered new will be gladly accepted at this time for the 2019 Empty Bowls Silent Auction on March 15.  Suggested items we are looking for include:

• use of a lake or beach home for a few days
• services related to your profession—some suggestions:
  • an attorney might offer a free will
  • a real estate broker might offer 1/2 off his/her commission rate
  • a dentist might offer a free dental cleaning
  • a home repair specialist might offer 1/2 off the repair of a garage door
  • a musician might offer several free lessons
• gift cards ($40 or more)
• baked items (loaf bread, rolls, cakes, etc.)
• ACC sports memorabilia
• original paintings

FOOD DRIVE FOR CCM:  FROM THE BIG CHAIR TO THE BIG ROCK CHURCH BY EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 21.

We’re rolling out the barrel for Cooperative Community Ministry. The barrel’s location will mark our progress toward our goal of 6400 15-oz. cans collected by Easter Sunday. Lined side by side, 6400 cans would stretch from Chair to Church. Start stocking the shelves in the CEC. And tell friends there will be a drop-off bin in the church parking lot Mondays -Thursdays duringLent. Join the effort and feed the hungry!

FUNDRAISER FOR TRANSPLANT MEDICAL EXPENSE FUND FOR LOCAL FAMILY

Diane (of Thomasville) and daughter Tonya (of Greensboro) Kuvshinikov are raising money to help with transplant medical expenses for Tonya.  Many members of Memorial United Methodist know Diane and may be interested in learning how they can help the family. Please consider making a donation to the fund and/or purchasing a magnet for $5 to raise funds and awareness.
