John 3:16 – 21

Beginning 40 days before Easter, Lent is a time for self-evaluation and self-examination. There are ways to help us accomplish this. As Christians we should pay attention to our feelings which does require discipline. We should take time to sit and think and feel the presence of God. God will come to us if we are open to him.
There are other ways we can observe Lent which are very familiar to us. We can fast during this period. The money saved by fasting can be given to the needy. Giving up something you enjoy doing is also a suggestion. Spending time doing volunteer work is very rewarding. You are helping someone and will find it is fulfilling. We need to be aware of the world around us and what we can do that is helpful.
During this special time, we can develop a closer relationship with God. Paying attention to the season will also help to bring us peace.

Prayer: Father, forgive those things we have done which cause you sadness. Also, forgive us those things we should have done that would have pleased you. Lead us to the Cross and Meet us there. In HIs Holy Name. Amen.
