SERVICE PROJECT NIGHT: PAINTING BOWLS (for “Empty Bowls”)

THIS SUNDAY… we will travel to a paint studio in High Point called “DISTRACTIONS ART STUDIO” to paint Pottery Bowls for a ministry known as “EMPTY BOWLS” which is a ministry which addresses hunger in our local community. 

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS…OUR CHURCH buys each person a pottery bowl.  You can paint PAINT YOUR BOWL with fun colors and a cute design (it will cost you NOTHING but your own creativity— the bowl, the paint, all the supplies, and the “firing” will be provided) THEN, we donate ALL of our bowls to the EMPTY BOWLS ORGANIZATION who will sell them full of tasty SOUP, at a special meal on Friday, March 21. 

BUT WHAT IS I WANT TO KEEP MY BOWL???  Well, that is a good question!…  EMPTY BOWLS TICKETS go on sale February 2 for $25 each! (see Payton Williams regarding how to get one!)  YOU can buy an EMPTY BOWLS TICKET, which will give you entry to the event, a chance to pick a handcrafted bowl (you can choose yours or someone else’s) and get a good bowl of tasty soup!  All of the money raised will go to local ministries who feed hungry people in our community!

NO SUPPER this week, but there may still be a TREAT involved!!!

We will return by 6:30 PM (Perhaps a little earlier – it depends on how long “Duck Donuts” takes to serve us)!

We will begin by practicing with the Adult Choir.  We will be preparing a few pieces that we will sing during worship!!!

ACOLYTES!!!  HELP!

In case you have never heard the word “ACOLYTE”, an ACOLYTE is the person at the beginning of the worship service that brings in the flame to light the altar candles.  We need some volunteers to light the candles at the 11 AM service!   (the 8:50 AM service does not use Acolytes)  It only takes about 30 minutes to learn how to “ACOLYTE”.  Typically, you sign up for a month (4 Sundays) and then you will be the Acolyte for that month at the 11 AM worship service.  You would need to light the candles at the beginning of the service and put them out at the end.  If this sounds like something you might be interested in, contact Rodney (336) 906-3036 OR Brandy Lambeth (336) 688-6881 for more information!

SMALL GROUP for HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS!

SMALL GROUPS WILL MEET AT MEMORIAL CHURCH (101 Randolph Street)
(6 – 7 PM)

These small groups are designed to be different than our Sunday Night Programs.  Instead of events, service, activities or discussing issues, “Small Group” meets simply to share about how your week is going and to have a few people pray for you and your life.  You will in turn get to pray for others and hear about their week as well.

WHAT DO WE DO? When you meet you are asked to share 3 questions: What was the HIGH POINT of your week? What was the LOW POINT of your week? Where did you SEE GOD during the week?

HOW DO I JOIN A SMALL GROUP? Its pretty simple, but it is very meaningful to those who attend and you have an open invitation to just SHOW UP and we will guide you to find the perfect fit for you in a small group!  Currently, we have a SMALL GROUP for MIDDLE SCHOOLERS and a SMALL GROUP for HIGH SCHOOLERS (although we are planning to make 2 HIGH SCHOOL GROUPS VERY SOON)
