DIRECTORY UPDATE!

Many of you have heard that we will be preparing an ALL-NEW, UPDATED Church PICTORIAL Directory this FALL!!!

*You may receive an email from “Memorial UMC” stating your “privacy has been changed” on your account. This is part of our process of getting things for the new directory started. It is NOT Spam.

IN ADDITION to the new PICTORIAL DIRECTORY, we will be upgrading our ONLINE DIRECTORY as well.  CURRENTLY, we have been using an app called “INSTANT CHURCH DIRECTORY” for our ONLINE DIRECTORY needs.  It has proven to be simple and easy to use, however, we think we have found an even BETTER SOLUTION for keeping our congregation connected!

Beginning this Spring and throughout the Summer months we will be gradually sending out invitations to a product called “REALM” (https://onrealm.org/).  This new ONLINE DIRECTORY is tied directly to the MEMBERSHIP DATABASE that we already use to keep track of our members!  This means that when an update is made to a member’s contact information (a new phone number, email address etc.) it will show up immediately in REALM!  (With the current system, the directory information must be updated separately, which inefficiently doubles the work!)

In addition, the new ONLINE DIRECTORY also has an app for your phone (iPhone and Android)!  The app is called “REALM CONNECT” and can be found in your App store.  We can easily help you get this set up to use.  Our goal is by this Fall to discontinue the INSTANT CHURCH DIRECTORY and migrate everyone over to REALM.  At this point, you have plenty of time AND we plan to offer workshops to help get people who do not feel “tech-savvy” switched over!  THANK YOU for working with us as we continue to try to improve!

Kids Summer Book Club for 3rd– 5th grade students will be starting June 15th and running through August 17th on Wednesday evenings from 4:00- 6:30pm.  This summer the children will be reading and discussing “At the back of the North Wind” by George MacDonald.  Please see Reverend Lynda Hepler to sign up and for more information. SPRING BIBLE STUDY – THE LORD’S PRAYER

The Lord’s Prayer holds a significant place in our faith. It offers hope in times of trouble. It is a declaration of our faith. It is a petition for guidance. The words of The Lord’s Prayer roll off our tongues so easily, that we sometimes miss their significance. While we recognize the prayer as sacred, we sometimes fail to grasp its power. Through this study, we will revisit this model prayer given to us by Jesus and look more deeply into its meaning. Adam Hamilton suggests that this is more than a model for prayer, but a model for living. Join us for new insights into this great gift that we know as The Lord’s Prayer. There are 2 session times available starting April 20th – June 1st: Wednesday’s at 6:30 PM – Following Wednesday Night Dinners Thursday’s at 10:00 AM If you are interested, please contact the church office at (336) 472-7718 or by email at office@mumctville.org.

UKRAINE

How to assist the Ukrainian people The United Methodist community in Ukraine, though quite small, is actively engaged in assisting neighbors in need. Global Ministries is in touch with the church’s leadership as well as with church leaders in countries welcoming those who are fleeing from violence in Ukraine. If you wish to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people in the wake of the Russian invasion of their country you may give a check to the church by marking it “Ukraine”. Your gift will provide direct assistance to those in Ukraine, as well as assistance to Ukrainians fleeing to neighboring countries.

Due to the United Methodist connectional structure, one hundred percent of all contributions go to the designated cause.

SOAP S.A.C.K.S

Chicks with Sticks and the Missions Committee are teaming up to create SOAP S.A.C.K.S (Supporting A Community with Kindness) and they need your help! Patterns for making the soap sacks can be found on https://www.soapsacks.com/. These patterns include sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Donations of individually wrapped full size bars of soap are also needed!

Donation boxes are located in the Narthex and lobby of the CEC Building.
