VIRTUAL WORSHIP RESOURCES:

STAR OF BETHLEHEM

Out of an abundance of caution and respect for the many people involved in Star of Bethlehem, we have sadly felt it necessary to cancel this year’s Drive-thru scheduled for December 11 and 12. Contracts for the animals have to be signed, and preliminary work begun on sets, backdrop, etc. at least six weeks in advance. It also involves over 200 people per night for this production. With the uptick in Covid and flu season near, this decision had to be made. PLEASE NOTE: We will be presenting live nativity scenes on the front lawn on Saturday, December 11 and Sunday 12 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Make your plans to ride down Randolph Street during these designated times and see the beautiful nativity sets reminding us of Jesus’ birth. Our prayer is that next year we will have the full experience of Star of Bethlehem once again.

OCTOBER – CLERGY APPRECIATION MONTH

Clergy have worked hard to meet new challenges facing the church for nearly two years.  The Western NC Conference has designated this month to recognize our ministers for their creativity in meeting the needs at Memorial. Consider letting Danny, Rodney, and Lynda know in your own special way how much you appreciate their efforts!

TRUNK OR TREAT
OCTOBER 30
6 – 7 PM
MEMORIAL UMC – UPPER CHURCH PARKING LOT

Trunk or Treat events are a great community event for families looking for a fun and safe alternative to trick or treating door-to-door or just a good excuse for the kids to get one more use out of their holiday costumes. Kids will travel around the church parking lot from car to car as if trick-or-treating, stopping at each decorated trunk to play a game or receive a treat.

TRUNKS NEEDED!
Setup time will begin at 5 pm. Please contact Lynda Hepler at 336-472-9711 or click HERE to sign up so we’ll know how many vehicles to plan for!

CANDY DONATIONS ARE NEEDED!
Help out by bringing candy donations to the church. You can leave them at Lynda’s office.

FINCH PREACHING MISSION 2021

Memorial United Methodist Church is honored to announce Bishop Ken Carter as the 2021 Finch Preaching Mission speaker! Please help us welcome him October 24th-26th.
Kenneth Carter is resident bishop of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, providing pastoral and administrative leadership to over 1000 congregations. For a full schedule of events and additional information please visit www.finchpreachingmission.org.

Nursery and childcare will be provided for each service.

A love offering will be collected at the evening services which will benefit Cooperative Community Ministry (CCM) of Thomasville.

We will not be having a Luncheon this year. However, a book signing will follow Monday evenings’ worship service.

Please commit to attending these services and feel free to invite your family and friends!

ART ACADEMY FALL SEMESTER BEGINS!

Art Academy is now registering new students! If you or anyone you know is interested in taking classes, please contact Melanie Byerly @ mbyerly@mumctville.org or call (336)472-7718 for information. All ages are welcome!

HELP NEEDED!

Do you want to be a special blessing to others this Christmas and be blessed by your service?

If so, contact Lynda Hepler about joining the Chrismon Tree team. We are looking for volunteers to help repair Chrismon ornaments, make new ornaments, and set up the tree for our Advent/Christmas season.
