MEMORIAL UMC’s MISSION…

We are CALLED by Christ to
GROW in faith,
BUILD relationships, and
SERVE all people.

CHURCH SCHEDULE UPDATES IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

On Sunday, the Lay Leadership and clergy of Memorial UMC met to chart our path as a response to the Coronavirus. We are privileged to have a group of leaders that are knowledgeable and compassionate. The priority of our meeting was the health of all those associated with Memorial and those with whom we come into contact. Having responded to our call to love our neighbors, and in consultation with medical professionals, the following decisions were made and will guide us through the end of March.

All activities and events at Memorial UMC will be suspended through the month of March.*

Worship will be offered Sunday March 22 and 29 at 10 a.m. via the internet on our Facebook page and on the radio at WGOS AM 1070.  All meetings and gatherings of any type and size have been cancelled.

The facilities will be closed during this period with the exception of the church office. The office will be open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. If you have business at the church that can be handled by phone or email, please use one of these options if possible.

Because communication is vital, we will stay in touch by using the Memorial Facebook page, our E-News sent via email, and the Memorial website (mumctville.org).  Please share any information with your friends who do not use electronic media.

Please make an effort to check in with your friends at Memorial, especially those who are most vulnerable to the virus.  If you regularly contact those who are ‘shut-in’ please continue to maintain communication with them via phone.

The Memorial Clergy and staff are available to serve you during this time.  Let us know how we can help. You may reach the church at 336-472-7718. If you do not reach one of us, please leave a message so we may follow up with you.

* Please note that the Lenten Canned Food Drive for CCM continues, as do the pine needle sales, as social distancing can be maintained in these activities. Please consider mailing a check to support the food drive, and note “Canned Food Drive” on the memo line. You may also drop canned food donations on shelves in the church breezeway. Read more about our food drive below in this eNews message.

LENTEN CANNED FOOD DRIVE

NOW THROUGH PALM SUNDAY, APRIL 5
Our canned food (and donations) drive for CCM continues!

We’ve made some slight alterations to our canned food drive in order to adapt to the current health and safety restrictions during this time of COVID-19, while still working to meet the continual and growing needs of our community. Check out our Facebook page for weekly updates on where to find the can in town! As of Thurs. Mar. 12, we had collected 4020 cans, moving the big can past the caboose and almost to the Big Chair. Keep it going!

1. To help make can collection easier, we’ve put a large food rack in the breezeway near the main building. Instead of going inside the church, you can drop off your donated goods here.

2. Toilet paper and cleaning supplies are also likely in need, so if you’re able to find any, please consider donating these items.
3. Monetary donations are also welcomed. Please note on your donation that it is for the CCM canned food drive. Donations can be mailed to the church or dropped off during the NEW CHURCH HOURS FOR MARCH, Monday-Thursday 9-12.

While we’ll continue to track the number of cans we collect and will move the giant can through Thomasville, our priority is simply to collect as much food and supplies as we can to meet community needs. If we hit our previously stated goal of 12,084 cans by Palm Sunday, then that is fantastic! If not, that’s okay. Thank you so much for all you do!
