UPCOMING EVENTS

ART CAMP 2019: DISCOVERY!  

Week 1: July 22-26  (9am – 3pm)  – SPACES STILL AVAILABLE
Week 2: Jul. 29 – Aug. 2 (9am – 3pm) – This session is FULL.

Registration Deadline is July 15th!

Cost: $75 per student and includes breakfast, lunch, and all materials. For students 1st grade – through rising 7th grade. Classes will be divided into two age groups: 1st -4th & 5th -7th. Registration is limited to the first 20 students for each week. Students may only attend one week of camp. First come, first serve. 

Each of us is created in the image of God, the master artist. During the week at Art Camp your child will discover their creative spirit regardless of age or ability. The camp focus will be on learning how to incorporate various media into an art piece as well as how visual and performance art are integrated. During the week, campers will experience: Music, Visual Art, Construction Art and the Art of Etiquette as they explore their creative side.

BARGAIN TREASURES – REMINDER TO COLLECT YOUR ITEMS!

As you know, we have rebranded our Trash & Treasure sale as “Bargain Treasures” for 2019. The church is depending on this large annual fundraiser on Aug. 24—so we are depending on YOU to be saving and donating your items. A reminder of our giving guidelines is below…

Drop-off Week is Aug. -19-22, Mon.-Thurs., 9 AM– 4PM. If you need to drop off earlier, need to schedule a pickup for a large item, or if you have questions, please contact Berta Riley at 336-475-2691.

Donate these items, clean and in good working order:
• kitchen items such as silverware, cookware, kitchen utensils, and small appliances that are clean and in working order
• large appliances that are clean and in working order
• furniture
• linens
• exercise equipment, good bicycles • toys, games, sports equipment
• children’s books and children’s clothing
• decorative items
• Christmas decorations
• handyman tools, hardware items, garden tools

The following items do not sell, and are NOT accepted:

UMW JEWELRY SALE @ BARGAIN TREASURES

The UMW will hold its annual jewelry sale on Saturday, August 24, 2019, during “Bargain Treasures”. We appreciate any contributions of costume, vintage, or broken jewelry for the sale. Collection boxes are located in the reception office. Proceeds from the sale benefit mission projects in our church, community and around the world. Thank you for your continued support of UMW.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

TO SERVE IN CHILDREN’S CHURCH FOR BOTH THE 8:50 AND 11AM SERVICES.

This volunteer position is to simply come and assist the leader and engage kids with the lesson through conversation. Please contact Lynda Hepler to volunteer. We are required to have two adults with children to comply with Safe Sanctuaries.

SEWING VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

Please remember that our sewing ministry still needs help making DRESS A GIRL dresses and boys shorts. This ministry is an ongoing project and volunteers are always needed to sew dresses and shorts at home. Pre-cut “kits” are located in Jarrett Hall. Thank you for your help with this special missions project.

THE SPIRITUAL ACADEMY FOR LEADING TRANSFORMATION

THE SPIRITUAL ACADEMY FOR LEADING TRANSFORMATION (SALT), sponsored by the Yadkin Valley District, is an eight-month program designed to identify, inspire, train, and support a new cohort of spiritually-mature lay people able to partner with clergy to lead effective change in congregations and communities. The program consists of five pieces: retreats, evening sessions, a leadership project, collaboration with clergy, and small groups. Please see the insert in today’s bulletin and give this opportunity your prayerful consideration.

COOPERATIVE COMMUNITY MINISTRY (CCM) NEEDS

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  
Cooperative Community Ministry is currently in need of several weekly volunteers for our food pantry. Volunteers would bag food and distribute to clients.  If interested, call CCM and ask for Peggy (336-476-1842).

Remember CCM! Please continue to bring in donations and place them on the wooden shelves in the lobby of the Christian Enrichment Center (CEC).
