SUMMER CHANGE FOR CCM

During the month of July the children of Memorial United Methodist will be collecting pocket change for Cooperative Community Ministry (CCM). When they gather for the Moment With Children they will rattle and roll through the worship space with coffee cans. You may also see them as you enter for worship. Please put your coins in the cans and help them make some generous noise!

SUMMER CHOIR!

SUNDAYS AT 10:30

Join the Chancel Choir this summer on Sundays at 10:30 to prepare simple anthems for worship at the 11:00 service. We are amateur musicians who love worshiping through music. All church members are welcome! Contact Danny Frye or just show up on Sunday at the Choir Room. We are in the main building on the second floor. We hope to see you soon!

RECEPTION DESK HELP NEEDED

*THURSDAYS 11:30-2:00

We have an open volunteer slot on Thursdays, 11:30-2. Please contact Leslie Gibbs (472-7035), Charlie Hanner (475-0234), Lynda Stone (882-6046), or Loretta Usher (475-3929), to learn more about this opportunity or to volunteer.

* You need not be available every Thursday—covering one Thursday per month regularly will help!

BAKE SALE JULY 21!

Locate your favorite recipes for the upcoming church-wide bake sale July 21 at Thomasville Farmers Market (corner of Guilford and Commerce Streets, at the downtown water tower). UMW is sponsoring the sale, but we need as many folks as possible to participate. Items that sell well include pies, cakes, muffins, breads of all types, seasonal baked goods, cookies, granola, and ham and sausage biscuits. All proceeds directly benefit missions and programs for children and families. Bring baked goods to the Boy Scout Rm. (10am -12) or to the home of Sara Faulkner (12- 6pm) on Friday July 20.  Please spread the word! For more information, contact Sara Faulkner.

ART CAMP 2018 (JUL. 30–AUG. 3)

Registration is open for Art Camp 2018 (Jul. 30–Aug. 3) for Rising 1ST through 6TH Graders. During the week children will discover their creative spirit regardless of age or ability. The camp focus will be on learning how to incorporate various media into an art piece as well as how visual and performance art are integrated. Campers experience: Music, Drama, Visual Art, Culinary Art and Dance. Breakfast and lunch are provided, and all art materials and food are covered in the registration fee. Registration is limited! Please contact Lynda Hepler to register.

JAZZ IN JUNE AT WEST MARKET STREET

TUESDAYS IN JUNE @ NOON
June 19 and 26    12-1 PM
WEST MARKET CHURCH, GREENSBORO

If you’re going to be in Greensboro in June, consider including the Tuesday lunchtime Jazz in June Worship Services in your plans. This longstanding summer tradition at West Market Church offers a 30-minute lunchtime worship service mid-day, early mid-week. The worship liturgy is familiar and includes a brief meditation led by the pastor, often with the musical support of the instrumental trio. The chancel choir and trio also lead those who are gathered in well-loved hymns, in very singable, original arrangements that appeal across generations. The services are held in the Leak Chapel at West Market, which is entered from the side street, John Wesley Way.

THANK YOU, FRAN COOK.

We wish to acknowledge Fran Cook for her service as a receptionist for Memorial. Fran recently “retired” as receptionist, after many years of dedicated volunteer service in this role. The church and receptionist coordinators extend our sincere thanks to Fran for her generous assistance through the years.
