MEMORIAL UMC’s MISSION…
We are CALLED by Christ to
GROW in faith,
BUILD relationships, and
SERVE all people.
Our church finances are as follows:
Total Expenses as of 08/31/17 $572,292.34
Total Income as of 08/31/17 $511,810.51
Net Deficit as of 08/31/17 ($60,481,83)
Memorial United Methodist encourages the Biblical teaching of the tithe. If the ten percent is too far a reach, consider a percentage increase toward the goal. Your sacrificial gift is greatly appreciated and makes our mission possible to grow in faith, build relationships and serve all people.” “Faithfully they brought in the contributions, the tithes…” II Chronicles 31:12

MEMORIAL UMC T-SHIRTS!!!
NOW YOU CAN WEAR YOUR FAITH and LOVE OF YOUR CHURCH on your BACK!
We are proud to offer our congregation and community a chance to purchase an official MEMORIAL UMC T-SHIRT. We have coordinated with Paul Grey of Design Illusions (from right here in Thomasville) to set up an online store which will offer short-sleeve and long-sleeve Ts, sweatshirts and hoodies with our official logo across the back and “Memorial United Methodist Church” on the left chest. Color options are sports gray, navy, and white. We hope that you will not only wear these shirts proudly around town, but also, during events such as Pancake Day, Trash and Treasure, Gifts Galore, and such
We are to place orders through the DESIGN ILLUSIONS website and NOT through the church office.
NO COMPUTER? NO PROBLEM! If you still want a shirt, but cannot order online:
1) FILL OUT a HARD COPY ORDER FORM FOUND HERE
2) ATTACH PAYMENT – Checks should be made out to “Design Illusions”
3) MAIL or DELIVER to “Design Illusions, 1010 W. Holly Hill Road, Thomasville, NC 27360“.
We are keeping the work in Thomasville. Paul and Design Illusions have always provided excellent quality and service.

Rev. Dr. Thomas K. Tewell
All Sunday school classes are invited to the R. L. Pope class to hear Dr. Tewell on Sunday, October 1 at 10:00 AM, then attend the 11:00 AM worship service in the sanctuary. Don’t forget to make reservations for lunch by calling the church office (336) 472-7718 by Noon, Monday, September 25
Return Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings for congregational singing at 6:45 PM and services at 7:00 PM. Special music will be presented at each service.
Following Monday evening’s service there will be a reception in the CEC to meet and talk with Dr. Tewell.
Love offerings each evening will go to CCM to help our neighbors in need. Child care is provided each evening also.
Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss a single event!
Many of you have been asking how can we help the people affected by the recent Hurricanes? I am proud to tell you that the United Methodist Church is one of the first groups to respond to emergencies like this. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) were prepared with Early Response Teams, disaster coordinators, and many volunteers as soon as Harvey came through Texas and now they will be entering Florida as well in the aftermath of Irma!
Although UMCOR has suggested to hold off on sending teams and individuals to join the work already in progress (there will definitely be opportunities for this in the future), there are still a number of ways YOU CAN HELP with the clean up efforts RIGHT NOW:
- PRAY for the volunteers and people who have been impacted by the disasters. The needs are vast and the work is plentiful, but there are still many dangerous situations that need to be taken care of by trained people who need guidance and support in the way of prayer.
- DONATE MONEY. Simply write a check to: “Memorial UMC” (drop off or mail to: 101 Randolph Street, Thomasville, NC 27360) Please note in the memo line: “Advance #901670” for Hurricane Harvey (Texas) & Hurricane Irma (Florida) Relief efforts.
- MAKE “FLOOD BUCKETS”: We have a very special opportunity to make a BIG impact here! FREE 5 GALLON PLASTIC BUCKETS have been donated to our church (we have reserved 75 of them, but we can get more if needed)!!! The buckets can be found in the CHRISTIAN ENRICHMENT CENTER near the “CCM SHELVES”. Pick up a bucket (or more) and fill it with the supplies listed on the official PACKING LIST HERE. For INSTRUCTIONS on how to assemble your bucket(s) CHECK OUT THE VIDEO. RETURN the bucket(s) to MEMORIAL UMC by TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 and we have arranged for delivery to the WNCC DISASTER RELIEF WAREHOUSE!
