Romans 8:37-39

We tend to use the word “love” freely in our everyday lives, but we never take the time to consider what it truly means. The definition of love is “an intense feeling of deep affection”. When we use the term “love” too loosely, it tends to cheapen it and the “deep affection” can be lost.

Now when we speak about “God’s Love” we should be even more careful about how we describe it because God’s love is unlike anything that you and I could ever share with another person. It is perfect in every way and comes to us with no conditions. It cannot be earned and can never be lost. People often fear losing God’s love because of shame and guilt of things that have happened in the past, but there is a problem with that, God forgives us for our past BECAUSE he loves us so much.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve done plenty of things that I am ashamed of and feel guilty about. I feel that I have let God down, and there are plenty of times when I doubt whether I even deserve his love. Fortunately, God’s word is filled with reminders that no matter what mess I find myself in, I know that He is right by my side and nothing can change that.

What I’m trying to say is that God and his love is right there with you through every trial, every temptation, and every time we feel lost or abandoned. We are never alone. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul.

Prayer: Dear God, I pray that you will let anyone who feels unloved know that you are there. Thank you for loving us unconditionally. Show us that we should love ourselves and others as much as you love us. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day: Remember to look for the love in all things. Be there for someone who needs love today.
