John 2:23 – 3:15

On December 29, 2016 our family welcomed my niece, Alma Grace Hiatt, into the world. In the flesh she is but a little baby, so helpless, full of life, and unknowing of the world she was born into. Alma Grace was born into the physical world which we can see and touch, and she was also born into the Kingdom of God. She is not a part of the Kingdom of God because she is the daughter of a Methodist Minister, or because she has parents that will teach her wrong from right. She is a part of the Kingdom of God because she is being formed by something none of us can see or touch – the Holy Spirit. As our scripture today tells us, it is essential for the Son of Man to be lifted up. Everyone who looks up to him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life.

The Holy Spirit will guide us, we just have to be willing to listen.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we come to you this day to thank you for welcoming us with open arms to the Kingdom of God. We thank you for the many blessings. Help us to focus on what is acceptable within your sight. You are the carver, and we are the wood. Shape us and help us to be all that you want us to be, O Lord. Amen.
Thought for the Day: Whether it is the wind in your face, the rain on your head, or the sunshine in your eyes, know that it’s the spirit of the Lord at work today and every day.
