John 8:12-20

As Jesus traveled throughout Galilee speaking to crowds of people, He found Himself at the Festival of the Booths. The scripture verse for today describes a scene that follows another famous story, the story of the adulteress brought before the crowd for judgement. When Jesus challenged the crowd, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her,” the crowd slowly dispersed. Later, He spoke again to the people, “I am the light of the world! Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees challenged the validity of Jesus’ testimony, saying, “Here you are appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.” Jesus responded that he was not alone in his testimony. He stood with the Father who sent Him.
Just as the Father is always with Jesus, when we accept Jesus as our Savior and the light of the world He is always with us, providing strength to us to face all troubles.
Jesus IS the light of the world and when we accept Him and follow Him in His light, He is always with us.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to recognize Jesus as my Savior and accept Him as my light to guide me through this world. Teach me to rely upon His presence to support me through difficult times and lead me to decisions that will bring honor and glory to our Father’s name here on earth. Amen.
