IT’S BEEN WAY TOO LONG!
HELLO TO THE MEMORIAL YOUTH GROUP PEOPLE!!!
Let me just begin by saying how much I miss all of you and all the fun that we typically have on Sunday Nights (especially during the summer months!). I also want to apologize for the lack of communication about what we have been planning for Youth Group. The truth is that there simply hasn’t been much to tell. I have felt like I have been in some weird sort of Limbo for the past 4 months and unsure what to say to all of you. I am sorry! I really should have reached out before now!
After finding it necessary to cancel Youth Sunday, ASP, and most recently our Lake J Retreat, I have been really questioning how to engage everyone. Everything that we do that makes Memorial Youth Special seems to revolve around the care and connection that we all share and with “social distancing” and “mask-wearing” becoming such an important part of being able to take care of one another and our families, it has forced the Adult Leaders and I to try to be a little more creative in our planning. Everytime I think I have a plan that will work as the virus’ impact “gets better”, our situation has continued to worsen!
ANYWAY, enough of the BAD NEWS, I don’t have to tell you how COVID has affected everything, What you need to know is how we are moving forward! SADLY, we currently have no plan to meet together as a group on Sunday Nights (I know other local Youth Groups are doing it, but I cannot in good conscience put any of you in a situation that could expose you and your families to this very contagious virus), my hope is that this will change as soon as we are able to get the Virus under control. UNTIL THEN, keep an eye on MEMORIAL YOUTH: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds. I hope to use it A LOT more to try to connect with you all in the coming weeks and do some fun, creative things. This is sort of a new approach to Youth Ministry so please be patient with me and I promise to do my best at making it fun and interesting, BUT I NEED YOUR INPUT too!

In addition to Social Media, I will continue alsoto keep in touch with you through EMAIL and the “REMIND” TEXT LIST: (CLICK HERE) or if you want to be included in our REMIND text messaging service Text “@c2akek” to 81010. An additional source of information is the MEMORIAL UMC FACEBOOK PAGE in case you aren’t aware, we have daily 10 minute devotions (10 @ 10) and I post one every Friday at 10 AM! ALSO, You will find the latest info for church openings as well as our virtual worship services. FINALLY, you can check our church page www.mumctville.org for info as well!
FINALLY, there are a few “events” that we are planning for August 9 & August 16. Keep these evenings and an eye open for more info coming your way about this! ALSO, if you are needing internet access, the church is planning on being open on Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 9 – 11 AM & 5 – 7 PM for K – 12 students (masks and Social distancing will be observed), and we have a great, rock-solid WiFi system now if you need to get online for school!!!
Please know that if you need someone to talk to or have questions, please feel free to call me (336) 906-3036 – I know that some of you are really struggling with some anxiety during this time and sometimes having someone to talk to to get you feelings out can help! I don’t have all the answers, but I will make time to listen and understand. UNTIL later, hang in there, take care of one another, and stay healthy!
