HARVEST HOPE 5K – SATURDAY OCTOBER 19th

Help us to “Harvest Hope” for our neighbors in the greater Thomasville area and across the world who know the reality of food insecurity and malnutrition by supporting or participating in our Harvest Hope 5K event on Saturday October 19 from 9 to 11 am. Proceeds from the event will benefit  Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) and Empty Bowls. Since it’s October, it wouldn’t be complete without pumpkins, treats, photo-ops, live music, and lots of laughter! We encourage kids of all ages to wear Halloween/Fall Festival costumes. For more information and to register to participate or just be Proud in the Crowd, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Thomasville/HarvestHope5k. Keep an eye on the MUMC Facebook page for updates!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED WITH CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE KIDS AND LOVE JESUS!

As mandated by our Safe Sanctuaries Policies, we must always have two non-related adults during all children and youth programming. Volunteers are needed to assist and occasionally lead various programs for our children. Without your help we will not be able to offer these programs for the children in our church community. Dates and times are below and at the links provided. You may select the dates that work for you—a weekly commitment is not required.  Please pray for guidance and sign up to volunteer. Thank you!

FABRIC NEEDED FOR SEWING MINISTRY

Thank you to those who already have donated fabric for our ministry! The Tuesday Morning Sewing Ministry is asking for cotton fabric donations to make little boys’ shorts for our “dress a girl” project, a year-round ministry dedicated to making dresses for girls and shorts for boys for needy missions in Nicaragua and Guatemala. At this time, we have plenty of fabric for our dresses. If you can provide “boy themed” cotton material, 42″- 44″ wide x 1 yard (or more) that would be wonderful. Please note we can NOT use any fabric that is licensed (no Disney, superheroes, sport teams, etc.), and fabrics must have NO wording on them.  Please contact Katie Conant or Sara Faulkner with questions.  Drop off can be made at the reception office.  Thank you in advance for your generous support.

“STAR OF BETHLEHEM” IS NEW NAME FOR LIVING NATIVITY

Our living nativity, formerly known as Journey to Bethlehem/What Child Is This, has a new name beginning in 2019. Please start practicing saying “Star of Bethlehem” when you want to say “Journey.”  Also new in 2019, our event will run two days rather than three. Mark your calendars for Saturday December 14th, 6-9 PM, and Sunday December 15th, 5-8 PM. Note the earlier time on Sunday. Stay tuned for more details and ways to get involved. If you have questions, please contact David Williams.

MISSING SOMETHING? HAVE YOU CHECKED THE RECEPTION OFFICE?

The shelves in the Reception Office are currently holding a number of dishes and serving pieces. If you have prepared food for a meal at church and think one of these dishes could be yours, please come by the Reception Office on the ground floor in the main building to have a look.  Additionally, there is a small collection of lost and found pairs of glasses, a Blythe Leonard leather pencil sleeve, etc.  Thank you!

RESERVED HANDICAPPED PARKING REQUEST

SUNDAYS, 10:30-12:00

We are pleased to welcome residents of Piedmont Crossing who join us weekly for worship at 11:00 thanks to a special transportation arrangement. You may have noticed that the handicapped parking space nearest the Sanctuary now is designated for the Piedmont Crossing shuttle, Sundays 10:30-12:00. Thank you for your help in making this space available during that time frame.
