LENTEN FOOD CHALLENGE: 3,000 CANS BY EASTER

Help us collect supplies and canned food for Cooperative Community Ministries (CCM). You can also opt to donate money toward this goal – each $5 donation will provide 1 yard of cans in our challenge. Read below for details.

THE CHALLENGE
We have a challenge during the season of Lent to collect enough canned food to line our sidewalk from the Church Bell found beside the church on Colonial Avenue all the way to Randolph Street down the sidewalk and back through the front door of the church and up to the altar BEFORE EASTER SUNDAY!!! We estimate that this will take more than 3000 cans of food!

PROGRESS
You can watch our progress by finding the large can along the sidewalk route with a banner attached to it.  The banner will have the number of cans collected so far and the position of the can will illustrate how far we need to go!  Currently, we are a just over 950 cans, so we still have some work to do over the next few weeks!

HOW TO HELP
So the simplest way to help us is to go to any local grocery store and pick up some cans of food and drop them off at the CCM shelves found in the reception area of the Christian Enrichment Center.  The cans will be logged and delivered to CCM each week.

IN ADDITION, if you are unable to get to the grocery store we have also arranged for cash donations to count as well!!!  For every $5 that is donated CCM can purchase approximately “3 feet” of food.  That means a $5 donations will get us a whole yard closer to our GOAL!  Please bring checks (made out to “Memorial UMC”) or cash to the church office or drop it in the offering plate clearly designated for our “Lenten Food Challenge”!

Thanks!
