WELCOME THE MORLING FAMILY TO MEMORIAL!

We are very excited to welcome to MEMORIAL a new family!

As a part of a 5-week ministerial exchange program with the Methodist Church in England the Morling family will be joining our church during the months of July & August!  Rev. Tony Morling is the minister of St. Helier Methodist Centre, on Jersey Island, England.

Rev. Morling will be assuming pastoral responsibilities for Ben and he will be joined by his wife, Cathy, and their teenage sons, Columba and Ronan.  Cathy, an actress and a faithful servant of Christ in her own right will be leading a workshop examining how the arts can be a source of growth and inspiration for faith, called Talitha on Wednesday, August 2.  to find out how to sign up for this opportunity, please see the details HERE.

There will be a welcome luncheon on Sunday, July 16 after the 11 AM worship service, so please be sure to come to this and welcome our new family!

Join your UMW sisters for a “Summer Celebration Brunch” on Saturday, July 29, 10:00 – 12:00 pm, in the RL Pope Room. Cheryl Herman will be leading a program titled “A Learning Community”.

Please bring a brunch dish or side to share.

Talitha: Transforming Lives through the Creative Arts

Wednesday, August 2 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The cost is $10:00, to  covers materials.

Cathy Morling, wife of Tony Morling of our ministerial exchange family, will be holding a workshop on Christian formation and the arts. Using scripture, contemplation and simple arts activities

Talitha workshops are an opportunity to draw closer to God, and to explore your voice, movement, music, drama and visual arts.  Cathy is an actress with the BBC, including a role with Downton Abbey.  Call the church office to register for this event.

MEN’S RETREAT

HOSTED BY EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH

This Fall, Emmanuel Baptist Church has opened their Men’s retreat to the men of MEMORIAL UMC!  This is an awesome time to relax with golf and/or fishing, build relationships with fellow men of God and grow in your faith!  A representative from Emmanuel Baptist Church will come to share more details with us, but be sure to sign up for this great opportunity!

Please plan on joining the UMW ladies who are creating the sundresses.  They meet on the 3rd floor of the church on Tuesday mornings 9:00-11:00 in the morning.  Remember, you don’t need to be able to sew to be part of this fun project.

Memorial is seeking a Director for our Nursery. Paid position 5-10hrs a week. Candidates should have childcare experience. Please share if you know of someone who would be interested. Send message or call the church office. 336.472.7718

TRASH & TREASURE SALE COLLECTION

The 2016 Trash and Treasure will be on August 26.

We hope you are saving your Treasures for the sale. The community looks forward to this event. We do hope you can wait until the week of the sale to bring your items, so they do not have to be moved twice. We do have limited space for storage but that needs to be held for sources outside the church. Drop off your items Monday through Friday, from 9-5, August 21-25.

…old TV’s-No Tubes
…old Computers, Monitors, and Printers
…old Self-Help Books and Old Coffee Table Books (We still accept Fiction, Children’s Books and Cookbooks)
…old large Entertainment Centers.

Please make sure appliances are in working order and that your items are clean and in good condition.
